MGA KABABAYAN SA HAMILTON

Pssst! Eto na. Here’s an opportunity for Filipino-Kiwi community organisations and groups to get involved and get wider exposure in a summer public event which supports the Philippines!

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Silo Sessions is a once-monthly activation in Silo Park which operates over summer and brings live entertainment to the public space. Operated as an outdoor concert event, Silo Sessions attracts crowds from around the city to experience performers from around the globe.

WHAT GOES ON: Silo Sessions expands beyond the stage to the wider Silo Park area – with themed food offerings, a market of handmade art and craft, and performances throughout the park. The activation attracts a wide audience of Auckland’s public. The sessions are programmed at a community level.

THE INVITATION: This 2014 Anniversary weekend we are running an activation and celebrating the different cultures we have here and we’d love to have a presence from the Filipino-Kiwi Community join in too!

This invitation is for all of you to have a presence at our market (free-of-charge) to promote and celebrate the Philippine community in Auckland and New Zealand as well as the opportunity inviting your cultural community along to get involved on the day!

We are looking for a Philippines community organisation or group to have a stand at Silo Markets on the 25th of January from 12-noon to 6:00PM. We are seeking stands that promote the Philippines and the culture of the Filipino people. This could be through the promotion of their organisation, selling of crafts etc. or involving the public in some sort of workshop.

For Anniversary Weekend 2014, Silo Sessions is proud and excited to host the second annual ‘Weird Together – World together’ event. Weird Together is the musical concept of Auckland-based DJs Nick D and Dick Johnson, who bonded over a common interest in the music of remote areas of the world as well as their intention of bringing the music together in modern and unusual ways. The event will feature such musical groups such as: weird Together Live, Daniel Haaksman (Germany), MC Slave, Hopepa and Chopper Reedz (Fat Freddy’s Drop). As well as a global music experience, be at Silo Park for a celebration of the food, art and culture of the world in Auckland City. Silo Sessions is proud to also be supporting the Philippines Relief Fund with Weird Together – World Together through Oxfam NZ.
